About UMIS

UMIS is a digital system developed by the Tamil Nadu e-Governance Agency (TNeGA) to bring all colleges and universities in the state under one unified platform. It helps institutions manage student information, simplifies administrative work, and provides accurate data that supports better decision-making.

It acts as a centralized hub for higher education records, with the core objective of optimizing resource management while offering valuable insights to the state government on academic trends and student needs.

UMIS Vision

The vision of UMIS is to modernize education management across Tamil Nadu. It creates a smooth and reliable way to verify student records, ensuring that every eligible learner is recognized and supported.

  1. Improving Enrollment - UMIS helps increase the Gross Enrollment Ratio by providing insights into admissions, course choices, performance, and dropout trends.
  2. Accurate Data Tracking - With transparent record-keeping, student information remains up to date and accessible to institutions, students, and administrators.

Alagappa University’s Role in UMIS

In general, All Universities are key partners in the success of UMIS. Their responsibilities include:

  1. Entering and validating student data such as admissions, fees, courses, and attendance.
  2. Ensuring that all records remain accurate and updated.
  3. Supporting students in accessing their details, applying for scholarships, and receiving timely updates.

By actively participating, universities not only improve their own efficiency but also contribute to a transparent, reliable, and student-friendly education system across Tamil Nadu.

First-Time Student Login
  1. Username: EMIS/UMIS Number (ask your department if unsure).
  2. Password: Last 4 digits of your registered mobile number + your year of birth.

Example:
Mobile: 9876-54-3210 DOB: 12/09/1999. Your password will be 32101999

Who Can Apply for Scholarships via UMIS?
  1. For II & III Year UG Students and II Year PG Students
    1. If you have not applied for any scholarship so far, you can now submit a fresh application through the UMIS Portal.
    2. Login and apply directly, or seek help from your department-level UMIS Coordinator/Nodal Officer.
  2. For I Year Students
    1. First-year students must apply for scholarships via the UMIS Portal.
    2. You may apply yourself online, or get assistance from your department-level UMIS Coordinator/Nodal Officer.
