The Department of Theatre and Film Studies was established in the year 2019 as the theatre and cinema are the two powerful mediums for storytelling, cultural exploration and social commentary. It is a matter of pride that among the state universities and colleges in Tamil Nadu, Alagappa University has the distinction of starting this department catering to the passion of many youngsters. Since its inspection, the department is dedicated to providing a dynamic and enriching academic environment that integrates theoretical knowledge with practical skills, preparing students for successful careers and making meaningful contributions to the fields of arts and entertainment industry.
The department offers M.A. Theatre and Film Studies Programme. It is committed to upholding the academic standards and the curriculum is designed in such a way to encompass both traditional and modern approaches and recent trends equipping the learners with the tools they need to excel in their chosen fields.
