ACADEMIC: Joined as lecturer in the Department of Industrial Chemistry, Alagappa University on 23.12.1987 with M.Sc.Industrial Chemistry degree. While in service, obtained M.Phil. (1990) and Ph.D. (1995) degrees and became alumnus of this great University. Recipient of Australian Government Endeavour Research Award and undergone Post-Doctoral Research (PDR) at Monash University, Melbourne, Australia (2007). Appointed as Professor in the same Department by direct recruitment (2008). Has a total experience of 31 years in Teaching, Research, Extension and Administrative activities.

CONTRIBUTIONS made in the capacity of Special Officer (Planning & Development)

  • Served as Special Officer (Planning & Development) from 20.02.2014 to 08.03.2016. During this period, arranged and submitted Plan & Research proposals by the University for consideration of funding by different agencies with a total budget outlay of 375 Crore, which include six Special Assistance Program (SAP) proposals, six Centre for Potential of Excellence in Particular Areas (CPEPA) proposals and University with Potential for Excellence (UPE) proposal, Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA) proposal and Tamil Nadu Innovative Initiatives (TANII) proposals.
  • Strengthened the e-Governance by collecting e-mail IDs and phone numbers of 158 Faculty members, updated them and used for the communication and information sharing. Designed and updated faculty profiles of 127 members and uploaded in the University website.
  • Submitted the particulars online for 5 years (2010-15) in the DSIR web portal and obtained DSIR Certificate valid for the 5 years (upto 2020).
  • Framed new schemes for the benefit of Staff and Scholars in the Alagappa University Research Fund (AURF) and increased the corpus fund from 5 crore to 7 crore.
  • Submitted the information online in the PFMS web portal for uploading utilization certificates of funded projects.
  • Submitted e-mail IDs and phone numbers of all faculty members to INFLIBNET and arranged URKUND anti-plagiarism free tool for the analysis on Research reports by all faculty members in the Campus.
  • Submitted three years (2012-15) particulars online in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) web portal.
  • Created WhatsApp group (ALU Faculty members) and academic / administrative / research information are being shared since 2015.

CONTRIBUTIONS made in the capacity of the Controller of Examinations

  • Served as Controller of Examinations (CoE) i/c from 26.11.2015 to 21.12.2017. Strengthened the CoE office by adding 25 computers, 14 printers, 2 High-end scanners, 2 High-end servers, 2 UPS, 68 point LAN, 10 mbps internet connectivity (BSNL) with firewall security, 1 Ton capacity Goods Lift, CCTV setup with 16 cameras and one Storage Building etc. Total worth of infrastructure added was about one crore.
  • In e-Governance, arranged to introduce online document (www.alagappauniversity.directverify.in) verification (Genuineness) system and SMS alert system.
  • Created Digital scanning & e-repository system.
  • Initiated MHRD-NAD (National Academic Depository) process.
  • Arranged for ONLINE submission of exam applications and ONLINE payment of exam fees by all students in all four academic streams.
  • In the examination reform measures, (i) security features (serial number, QR code) were added in the degree certificates (ii) provision was created for claiming exemption of remitting exam fee for the benefit of blind persons (iii) regulated to issue only 25 answer scripts to examiners per session for valuation of affiliated Colleges.
  • Arranged to introduce EXAMINATION AUTOMATION in the University; Barcoded answer booklet was designed and printed with Government Press Madurai, Computer Coded attendance sheet was designed and printed in-house, PHP software was created in-house and linked through LAN with all 34 University Departments for online entry of CIA marks and attendance details. All these initiatives supported the University to attain A+ grade by NAAC in the assessment held on April 2017.

CONTRIBUTIONS made in the capacity of the Registrar

  • Serving as Registrar since 22.12.2017. Arranged to display digital boards in the administrative building for the view of public to know the History of the University and illustrious Vice-Chancellors of the University.
  • Arranged to conduct SC/ST monitoring and review meetings every quarterly since April 2018.
  • Arranged to conduct monthly review meetings with Academic and Admin Heads since July 2018.
  • Introduced Government e-Marketplace (GeM) and purchased materials worth over Rs.1.2 crore.
  • Strengthened e-Governance system in the University.
  • Arranged to introduce Digital Evaluation system in Examination wing.
  • Introduced daily E-News bulletin system for view by all Faculty and admin staff in the campus.
  • Arranged to receive student / scholar scholarship through UGC-Canara web portal.
  • Arranged for all outsourced and consolidated employees to get UAN registration for EPF and EIS remittance and monitor through EPFO online portal.
  • Arranged in-house online system in Student admission, payment of tuition fee and hostel fees.
  • Arranged meetings with Principal / representative of affiliated colleges towards NAAC accreditation and student support services.
  • Arranged to open online portal in the University website, constituted Student Grievance Redressal Committees for the students of University Departments and exclusively for SC/ST students and staff.
  • Arranged to create an exclusive RUSA directorate for single window system for speedy operation for MHRD-RUSA 2.0 scheme and operating the Rs.100 crore fund towards Quality Enhancement.
  • Serving hard to get more funds to the University through MHRD-RUSA 3.0 scheme
  • Serving hard to improve the Ranking and to get more Credentials to the University.
  • Serving hard to obtain Institution of Eminence (IOE) status to the Alagappa University.
